Sugar And Spice And A Hello Kitty Rifle
Sugar And Spice And A Hello Kitty Rifle
Oil on canvas 22’ x 28’
Women’s Work 33rd Annual International Exhibition 2020
Far And Wide National at WAAM 2023
After I saw a pink Hello Kitty gun, my friend’s daughter posed for this as an 8 year old though she was wearing a much better dress. It was green and had jumping horses on it. Her mother is an equestrian. But as she once said as a three or four year old, she “ has one one gene from her mom but two from her father”. Obviously not genetically accurate but well put. Very true.
Antique German Doll
Oil on canvas
One of two paintings I entered in an anniversary show at Pelham Art Center several years ago. I don’t think they took this one but took another which I no longer have. It was terrible but matched the theme better I suppose, which was “birthday” as I recall. It was a doll with an umbilical cord attached to a small clay baby I had molded and it looked like a monster. I spent much of the time speaking to an older guy who must have been related to one of the other artists. He was very curious as to why I would paint such a terrible painting. I think it ended up in a tattoo shop in Woodstock. Or in the garbage. But I found a pic of it.
